Candida Yeast Fungi -
What Is Candida Albicans And Candidasis? Is this organism affecting your health?
If you are feeling dreadful, there is a good chance that Candida yeast fungi may be playing a large part in your suffering. Yeasts are single cell living fungus organisms, that are neither animal nor vegetable, which live on the surface of all living things, and they are basically harmless. One family of yeast, Candida albicans, normally lives on the inner warm creases and crevices of your digestive tract and in the vagina (of women).
In its natural state, the good bacteria, called micro flora, greatly overpopulate Candida albicans in the digestive system. When antibiotics are taken to fight bacterial infections, they do not discriminate, and also aggressively kill this micro flora as well as targeted bacterial infections. When the micro flora population is diminished, Candida albicans yeast cells over strengthen, and become quite aggressive, multiplying uncontrollably. They begin to take over and wreck havoc on our health. The symptoms can be as mild as indigestion to as severe as schizophrenia or autism.
Over a period of time, sometimes months, and sometimes years, Candida albicans can become quite aggressive, and attach itself to the intestinal walls, morphing into a fungal form. Once the Candida attaches itself to the intestinal walls, it begins to grow long legs, called rhizoid, which actually drill holes in the colon. This allows undigested food, toxins, including toxins produced by Candida albicans itself, to enter the bloodstream, overburdening the immune system. Sometimes this fungal yeast, once it escapes the intestinal track, can travel through the bloodstream and settle in pocket areas throughout the body; thereby becoming a systemic Candida albicans yeast infection.
Candida albicans yeast overgrowth can also be caused by other factors, such as hormonal changes associated with normal menstrual cycles, birth control pills, pregnancy, steroids, genital irritations and abrasions, sexual transmission and diabetes.
Once the body is in this unnatural, out of balance state, the liver struggles to cleanse the blood, the adrenal glands excrete excess hormones to keep us moving, our lymph glands can become overburdened, our immune system fights against the infection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and our entire bodies become out of balance. Each individual has unique 'weaknesses' and these seem to be the area which is most affected. If the Candida albicans colonizes in the mouth and throat it is called thrush.
If it settles in the sinuses you have a sinus infection, in the ears, an ear infection, the vagina - a vaginal yeast infection, the skin - skin fungus, jock itch, athlete's feet, toenail fungus, rashes, even eczema can be caused by Candida albicans yeast overgrowth. For some it affects sensitive brain chemical balance, others experience bowel disruptions, while even others experience entirely different symptoms. Fatigue, headaches, depression, PMS, irritability, feeling 'sick all over,' and other symptoms all are frequently yeast connected.
A common spelling of disease in the holistic world is dis-ease. Out of ease, without ease, or rather out of balance. Alternative medicine is on the rise, and its focus is on removing the causes of dis-ease's and illness, thereby allowing the body to activate its powerful, natural healing abilities. Interestingly, Candida albicans or Candidiasis has long been recognized in the holistic health world as a very serious imbalance, and treat the cause of symptoms, thereby allowing the body to come back into balance. When the body is in balance, symptoms and discomforts disappear. Whereas what we call 'traditional medicine' often times refuses to acknowledge the existence of Candida albicans overgrowth, and merely treat symptoms.
Over and over again, it is said that anti-fungal drugs and herbs repeatedly fail to get rid of thrush, vaginal or other types of Candida albicans yeast infections for good. Antifungal herbs and drugs can kill some of the Candida albicans, but Candida albicans that survives by 'hiding' in folds of the intestines and cells of the body, can overgrow again and re-infect the body, especially if the intestinal environment has not been improved.
A total approach to a very serious condition is imperative, so that a complete and permanent removal of Candida albicans from the blood, tissues and internal organs and digestive system takes place.
Everyone is individual in their approach to illness. Some call for a consultation, and immediately move forward, while others take the first steps through educating themselves.
